Telescopic Handler

Certification: FAS CSCS logbook/ticket and FETAC certificate
Objective
To ensure that all participants are trained in the safe operation of a telescopic handler in keeping with health and safety regulations.  Background

A telescopic handler is also known as a multi-tool carrier or a variable reach truck. It has a boom section that can be extended by telescopic means. The end of the boom can be fitted with a range of attachments including:  | Crane Jib
|  | Loader Bucket
|  | Forks
|  | Wood grab |
Some telescopic handlers are designed for rough terrain while others aren't. The operational characteristics are different. Operators must be trained to know the differences to operate the machinery safely in different environments. Operators must also be trained in the non-slewing and slewing machines.  Course includes:

Theory  | Duties of operator
|  | Pre-Shift Inspection
|  | Hazards associated when working with a Telescopic Handler |
Practical  | Inspection of machine before use
|  | The effect of size, load, weight, gradients and ground conditions transportation of materials
|  | Risk Assessment in working environment
|  | Recognition of approved hand signals |
On the 3rd day of the course participants are given a log book. After 6 months further experience under the supervision of a CSCS ticket holder of the same category, they must pass a 1 day assessment to achieve CSCS card and FETAC Certification
Participants must bring the following on the day of training:
1. Passport Photo
2. Current Safe Pass is Advisable
3. Personal Protective Equipment
4. Evidence or Proof of experience (Over six months) i.e. Letter from employer
Participants must be aged 18 years or over
