Safety and Health in the Workplace

Format: 4 X 3 hour sessions
No of Participants: Up to 10
Certification: FETAC Level 5
Objective:
1. To receive the skills and training to promote and maintain safety and health in the working environment.
2. To achieve certification in Safety and Health in the Workplace, (FETAC Level 5), in keeping with current legislation.  Course Content

 | Duties of employers and employees as specified in current Safety, Health and Welfare at Work legislation
|  | Outline the role of the Health and Safety Authority
|  | The role of communication and training in the promotion and provision of health and safety in the workplace
|  | Identify the elements and functions of the safety statement
|  | Promotion of safe and healthy working practices in relation to:
|  | Identify risk factors in relation to safety, and learn how to carry out a hazard identification and riks assessment in the workplace to include:
|  | Outline the principles and procedures of good housekeeping in the workplace
|  | Use safe lifting and handling techniques where appropriate
|  | Accidents and dangerous occurrences:
|  | Fire-related issues:
|  | Procedures for use and disposal of hazardous materials and waste in the workplace eg. MSDS
|  | Control and associated risks of the following in the
|  | workplace:
|  | Outline risk factors in relation to health, to include:
|  | Contents of a typical first aid kit and their appropriate use |

Candidates must bring:
Comfortable and flexible clothing, (e.g. tracksuit) on the day.
